excited to have them here! Julia has loved having so many playmates. Later I'll give a more detailed rundown of the trip so far, but for now, here are a few pictures and a brief update.

What we Americans know as "Jell-O" is called "jelly" over here, so Australians think a peanut butter and jelly sandwich sounds pretty revolting. Instead of peanut butter, the common sandwich spread is Vegemite, a concentrated yeast extract that tastes really salty and looks a bit like tar. And they think PB & J is bizarre?!?!
She and her husband are planning a trip to Thailand (one of my favorite places in the world!), so while Julia napped I gave her recommendations on sights to see and places to eat (mmm...Thai food!). I think Julia was still reeling from Flynn's visit the day before because when upon waking and seeing Julie (whom she hasn't seen in a few months), she immediately adopted her scowl. She seemed to think Aunt Julie might take her toys
and chew on them too! When she realized Julie was there solely to admire and amuse her, Julia quickly warmed up. Julie had her mesmerized with "Round and Round the Garden" (a tickling game) and "This Little Piggy."
They moved to Dubai for her husband's work shortly after Flynn was born, so it was very exciting to have them back visiting in Australia! Simone and I had a great time catching up, and at first we watched the two littlies playing together, marveling at how much they'd both grown and how cute they were (you know, the typical mom stuff). Julia showed him the best toys to chew on and pointed out her books and her blocks and her kitchen, very happily showing off all of her stuff. But then things took a turn when Flynn decided that he didn't want to just look at the toys and proceeded to crawl over and play with some of the enticing toys Julia was
showing off. She spent the next 2 hours with a scowl on her face, hoarding her toys -- and not just the ones she was playing with but anything Flynn even remotely set his sights on!
Julia has been practicing taking care of her baby in preparation for Liam's arrival.
This photo doesn't really go with the others, but this is Julia's best friend, Caydence. On Friday mornings we carpool to Gymboree. They're precious in the car, holding hands and passing snacks back and forth. They'll even play peekaboo with each other and often spend the whole 20 minute drive giggling at their little games. I couldn't get any candids because they noticed every time I tried to take a picture, but it's very cute!
Playtime is much more stationary now that I'm in my 9th month of pregnancy. Julia's pretty good about bringing me her toys so that we can play together, and she lets me just ooh and ahh over her creations and make funny faces at her rather than our old games which involved a lot more chasing and motions (I'm very appreciative!). She initiated a new game yesterday, though. She came up and pressed her nose up against my nose and would close and open her eyes and then wait for me to do the same in time with her. So simple, and yet she found it hilarious!
